We met when we were in middle school at church because Callie’s sister introduced us. We started dating as young kids but eventually broke up. Then we dated briefly in high school, but nothing serious. We finally reconnected in college. Jonah was going to SMU and part of a Christian fraternity, and Callie was at UNT in a Christian sorority. Jonah asked Callie out on Valentine’s Day, and from that very first date, Callie knew this time was different — she knew he was the one! We loved spending time together exploring new places, going to the zoo, taking nature walks, and even making late-night runs to Krispy Kreme when the hot light was on. Less than a year later, Jonah proposed to Callie at the same spot where he first asked her to be his girlfriend. He even surprised her with a hot air balloon ride the following weekend, which had been on her bucket list. It was such a special and magical experience!
We got married in 2016 and spent our first year together in California, where Jonah had an internship at Apple. It was a year full of adventures, just the two of us (and our dog, Teddy!), exploring beautiful places like Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and countless state parks. Being far from friends and family helped us grow closer and really learn to lean on each other. Eventually, we moved back to Texas to be near our families and bought our first home, which we love. We enjoy working on house projects, going to church and Bible study, nature walks, and hosting friends and family.
Three years ago, we experienced one of the greatest blessings of our lives when we adopted our son. Becoming parents has brought so much joy to our lives, and we are beyond grateful for the love and trust that made that possible. Now, we are excited to continue our journey and look forward to welcoming another child into our family.
Our family traditions are full of joy, and our next child will be part of every one. We celebrate Christmas by going to church, seeing holiday lights, watching movies, and wearing matching pajamas together. Birthdays are filled with themed parties, games, and special activities chosen for each child. In the fall, we host pumpkin carving parties and visit pumpkin patches every year. For Valentine’s Day, we enjoy candlelit family dinners and put up “heart doors” with notes of love for each other.
We live in a charming neighborhood with diversity, a great school district, walking trails, creek with ducks and fish, and a park right off our street. We live close to the public library, more parks, and an ice cream shop. There are a lot of young families on our street. Our house is 3 bedroom and 2.5 bath. Our living room is connected to a front room, that is the playroom. We built our patio in the backyard, and we love to host friends and family and watch movies from our projector outside. Our backyard still has plenty of grass, swing set, and outdoor play kitchen that Pop made us. In our front yard is a wooden bench swing, that we built together. Our house is decorated with warm tones and colorful accents and there are sentimental items with a story to tell all around. We cherish spending time at home with one another.
More than anything, we want you to know that we will love your child unconditionally, no matter the circumstance. We will care for them and provide for all their physical, mental, and emotional needs. We will encourage and support them in all of their aspirations and dreams, and we will be their biggest advocates and cheerleaders – always showing up for them. We will provide a safe place for them to learn and grow, taking interest in the things that excite them. We will teach them that God loves them and that grace is never-ending. Your child will always know where they came from and how much you love them. We will honor your choices regarding the openness you desire, and we promise to honor their birth culture and heritage by sharing stories, traditions, and values so they always know and feel proud of who they are. We will foster unity between siblings with a family culture built on love and respect. Thanks for taking the time to get to know us. We hope to meet you in person!
