A dating app brought us together in April of 2017: two swipes right, one Sunday lunch, and a long walk. Just three dates later—we were a couple, with Kristen’s two white poodles along for the ride. At the time, Kristen was in graduate school and Josh traveled abroad for work with his architectural and design firm. We made memories at concerts, on mountain hikes across Colorado, by the pool, in yoga class, and in our tiny apartments about an hour’s drive from one-another.
In the years that followed, Kristen led care coordination as a nursing director at a children’s hospital in Denver, and Josh continued his work as a senior designer with his firm. We married 2.5 years later in a simple, intimate ceremony at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, reading the vows we wrote to one another. Derek—Kristen’s brother—and her dad were our witnesses, with Derek capturing all the photos of the day. Truly magical.
What Kristen loves about Josh: “he is ‘our everyday hero’ who is stable, creative, a ‘man of his word’, safety conscious, grounded, dependable, faithful, and prioritizes his wife and children above all else”
What Josh loves about Kristen: “prioritizes our children above all else, is steadfast in her devotion to our marriage and family, and is the memory-maker of the family making every celebration special”
We love our holidays, birthdays, and frankly any excuse to gather our friends and family together for celebration, food, fun, presents, and adventures! From trick-or-treating with the cousins, to birthday parties with our school-friends, we’re always looking ahead to our favorite traditions. Christmas time is by-far our favorite time and we go to a
small town Christmas parade every year in Colorado – lights, snow, hot cocoa, and Santa on the firetruck are magical!
We live in a lovely, safe, and new neighborhood in the hill country, with LOTS of families and younger kiddos. The driveways and backyards are alive with kids on bikes, hot wheels, scooters, and more. We’re so blessed to share a street with such kind and generous neighbors and our kids are always eager to knock on their favorite friend’s door to see if they can come and play in the backyard on our new swing and slide set.
There are peaceful streets with dedicated sidewalks for bikes and walking, greenspace and trails for exploring, hidden treasures among the many heritage live oaks, a small pond for fishing and skipping rocks, two unique playscapes, and a perfect pool for hot summer days.
We’re just a few minutes drive from many of our favorite parks, the YMCA, our church, library, schools, and soccer fields.
Thank you for considering our family. We hope that we have answered some questions that you might have about who we are and why our paths are crossing today. We promise to: -Love your child unconditionally with every part of our being and soul -Endlessly encourage her and provide every opportunity possible for her to succeed in life -Forever and always be by her side with never-ending love and support -Guide, show, and teach her about God’s grace and love -Celebrate and honor her uniquely special life story -Always honor you and help her to know the love and bravery that led to her adoption -Pray for you and her -Keep communication open and stay true to our word. Our promises are sincere and we hope that you begin to feel some peace in your decision. We already hold you near to our hearts because you are a part of our story. We hope to continue on this path with you and your child. With Gratitude, Josh & Kristen
